Answers − Converting top heavy fractions to mixed numbers

1.    9/5 = 1 4/5

  9 ÷ 5 = 1 with remainder of 4.
  The 4 becomes the numerator and the denominator is still 5

2.    4/3 = 1 1/3

  4 ÷ 3 = 1 with remainder of 1.
  The 1 becomes the numerator and the denominator is still 3

3.    3/2 = 1 1/2

  3 ÷ 2 = 1 with remainder of 1.
  The 1 becomes the numerator and the denominator is still 2

4.    7/4 = 1 3/4

  7 ÷ 4 = 1 with remainder of 3.
  The 3 becomes the numerator and the denominator is still 4

5.    11/4 = 2 3/4

  11 ÷ 4 = 2 with remainder of 3.
