Top heavy fractions − converting to mixed numbers
A mixed number has both whole numbers and fractions
- Example 1. 5/5 = 1
- Example 2. 7/5 = 1 2/5
- Example 3. 17/5 = 3 2/5
- Example 4. 17/7 = 2 3/7
5 ÷ 5 = 1
7 ÷ 5 = 1 with remainder of 2.
The 2 becomes the numerator and the denominator is still 5
17 ÷ 5 = 3 with remainder of 2.
The 2 becomes the numerator and the denominator is still 5
17 ÷ 7 = 2 with remainder of 3.
