Answers − Percentages in Reverse

1.   70% of the price of a mobile phone is £70.

   What was the price before the sale?

  ( 70 × 100 ) ÷ 70 = 7000 ÷ 70 = 100.
  So the original price of the mobile phone was £100

2.   60% of the price of a weeks holiday to Spain is £300.

   What was the original price?

  ( 300 × 100 ) ÷ 60 = 30000 ÷ 60 = 500.
  So the original price of the Spain was £500

3.   30% of the price of a Car is £2400 is the deposit.

   How much does the car cost?

  ( 2400 × 100 ) ÷ 30 = 240000 ÷ 30 = 8000.
  So the car costs £8000

4.   60% of the price of a pair of trainers is £54.

   What was the price before the sale?

  ( 54 × 100 ) ÷ 60 = 5400 ÷ 60 = 90.
  So the original price of the trainers was £90
